During its quarterly meeting on October 23, 2008 the Tidewater EMS Council Board of Directors approved revisions to the organization's strategic EMS plan. During FY08, 4,471 students completed basic and advanced cardiac, pediatric and trauma life support provider and instructor courses offered by the Tidewater Center for Life Support Training, a program managed by the Tidewater EMS Council. Thomas R. Watson, EMT-P, of Chesapeake was recognized as the 2008 Virginia Outstanding EMS Educator November 15 during the statewide EMS symposium in Norfolk.
On September 17, 2008 the Virginia Beach Police and EMS Departments celebrated the arrival of their new Bell 407 Helicopter Air Ambulance. This event marked the culmination of countless hours of planning and coordination.
