EMT-Basic to Enhanced ~ Intermediate ~ Paramedic

Beginning on the Eastern Shore in January 2009, held each Sunday (see schedule below)

Taught by TCC.

Tentative location, ESCC.

Students can test out at Enhanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic levels.

Current Enhanced are excused from course 170 which is clinical, but must attend the classroom portion (151) or test out. Testing out involves minimum score of 80 to pass. I strongly encourage any enhanced provider to take 151 rather than attempt to test out, because of the amount of material covered and its benefit to the following courses.

Anyone stopping at the Enhanced level will complete additional trauma/cardiac studies related to Eastern Shore guidelines.

Current Intermediate providers may opt to advance to the Paramedic level, with the completion of 2 additional courses (during the Intermediate section). ACLS/PALS/ITLS are built into the course.

The entire course, EMT to Paramedic, requires 16 months and approximately $3,600 per student.

Clinicals, for the most part, will be set up on the Eastern Shore.  At the Paramedic level, some clinicals may be needed across the bay.

Physicals with immunizations/titers are required, as well as background checks, online application to college, application to EMS programs, health professions program application.  (see forms below)

A deposit of $100 must be made payable to the ES EMS Council and remitted to ESEMS Council, PO Box 235 Eastville, VA  23347 by October 31st, 2008.  This will be refunded at the completion of the course.  The council plans to purchase books for students.

This program is a huge commitment and will require intense study as it is a college level course. College credits will be given.
