Eastern Shore Critical Incident Stress Management Team

We're happy to know that you have an interest in joining the Tidewater CISM Team!

The first step is: Complete a CISM team application.

Download, complete and submit the CISM Team Application (85kb ). If you need us to mail you an application or if you have further questions concerning membership, please email us at hcarpenter5@msn.com or call (757) 678-0411.

The second step is: Successfully complete a CISM team interview.

That's about it. The Tidewater CISM team is entirely volunteer, with members from the mental health field and from the emergency services (law enforcement, EMS, fire and public safety communications) field. Team members must be willing to assist with defusings, debriefings and one-on-one sessions. Members should also be willing to provide general stress and CISM education to the emergency services community.

The third step is: Complete 2-day basic Group Crisis Intervention CISM training.

Obtain training at locations throughout the country from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
